Job Summary:

The Human Resource Coordinator will lead and direct the functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position reports to the Corporate Human Resources Manager and Senior Vice President of Administration and Operations.

 Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages talent acquisition process. Performs recruiting activities: sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire orientation, with the goal of timely staffing of all vacant positions.
  • Manage all employee timecards and processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to identify appropriate resolution for routine and non-routine issues.
  • Proficient with MS Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Able to exercise good judgement and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain records of recruiting activities and follows steps in compliance with the company recruiting guidelines.
  • Tracks employee time and attendance, leave of absences etc.
  • Manages health and welfare records including annual and new employee enrollments, changes, and terminations as well as general file management.
  • Coordinates compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Communicate information regarding insurance plans and options to employees.
  • Provide guidance to managers on compliance issues, employee development, employee relations, discipline, terminations, occupational health and safety and union grievances and union stewards (if applicable).
  • Assist in investigations unlawful harassment and discrimination complaints.
  • Knowledge and expertise in Human Resources and Safety Compliance laws, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge and expertise in Workers’ Compensation laws and practices
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law and working knowledge of unionized environment.
  • Review and understand the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources field.
  • Preferred 5 years experience in Human Resources Preferred 1-3 years experience in a unionized workplace (if applicable).

Required Skills:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,  or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

License/Certification:

Preferred: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
